Hajar Shirley

Haj Shirley is a Doctoral Candidate at the School of Communication & Information at Rutgers University, where she is advancing health and digital equity research aimed at developing innovative academic-industry-community centered experiential learning partnerships. Haj attained a BS and MS in Computer Science, in addition to a MS in Management. Haj has trained at the Stanford d.school Teaching and Learning Studio in design thinking and participatory research methods, systems thinking, and academic innovation design.
On a mission to advance vaccination equity, Haj was awarded the Rutgers Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Advocacy (IDEA) Innovation grant to spearhead the Vaccination Equity Education Coalition (VEEC), forging partnerships across our beloved Rutgers community and New Jersey.
As the former Global Head of LifeScan Commercial Technology at Johnson & Johnson, Hajar Shirley led global efforts centered around improving patient-level access and chronic care management at Johnson & Johnson Diabetes Care Companies’ (Lifescan, Animas, and Calibra) via delivery of patient-centered initiatives to new and emerging patient populations. In addition, Hajar held a variety of leadership roles spanning across Commercial, Supply Chain, Research & Development, Regulatory Affairs, and Information Security during her tenure at Johnson and Johnson. She completed the Smith College –Leadership Edge program while at Johnson & Johnson. She had the opportunity to also attain a certificate from Babson College on Technology Innovation and completed a certificate in Global Marketing Management at Wharton –UPENN.
