Educational Equity

Our Mission

The Educational Equity Group provides academic, social, and cultural resources essential for the success of first-generation, limited income, and/or underrepresented students. By celebrating their lived experiences and building on their unique strengths, we support undergraduates in achieving their academic goals, preparing for life after graduation, and empowering them to be lifelong, engaged citizens.

Connecting Students, Engaging Communities

We are dedicated to fostering campus-community partnerships creating civic spaces and empowering students to be lifelong, engaged citizens.

Collaborative Center programs connect more than 400 students each year to community partners in New Brunswick and beyond through in-depth placements and projects involving policy research, access to education, health, language, and the arts, to name a few.

Foundation Partnerships & Special Initiatives

Paul Robeson Success Institute

First-year and transfer students can prepare for the transition to Rutgers–New Brunswick with a three-day signature experience named after one of Rutgers' most distinguished alumni.

Bridge to the Doctorate Summer Institute

Rising juniors and seniors in any Rutgers EOF program can attend a four-day workshop to explore the pathway to a doctoral degree.

Cooperman College Scholars

This scholarship program identifies academically talented, highly motivated students from public high schools in Essex County, and places them in challenging, well-matched environments with solid support systems to promote college completion.

Posse Foundation Scholars

The Posse Foundation identifies, recruits and trains individuals with extraordinary leadership potential. Posse Scholars receive full-tuition leadership scholarships from Posse’s partner colleges and universities. The Posse model works for both students and college campuses and is rooted in the belief that a small, diverse group of talented students—a Posse—carefully selected and trained, can serve as a catalyst for individual and community development.
