David Hughes studies the ways in which people exploit each other by exploiting nature, and vice-versa. He has written two books on colonialism in Southern Africa, the second of which is entitled Whiteness in Zimbabwe: Race, Landscape, and the Problem of Belonging. Hughes’ current work explores rural movements against renewable energy in the European South.
