
THRIVE SSS Program Services
Success Coaching
The THRIVE SSS Success Coaching model is developmentally specific, as the staff recognizes that students have different needs and different responsibilities. Coaches offer one-on-one and group-style workshops and activities. Benefits include:
- Safe space to seek guidance
- Personalized goal setting and action plans
- Close monitoring of academic progress and financial aid need
- Ongoing, proactive email and phone outreach
- Referrals to essential university departments
Tutoring
Tutoring is provided to THRIVE SSS Scholars by undergraduate peer Academic Success Mentors (ASMs). ASMs are not only very knowledgeable in their specific academic areas but also highly proficient in the communication skills necessary for truly valuable assistance. Tutoring is conducted during scheduled, one-on-one, weekly sessions or drop-in study groups.

- Elementary and Intermediate Algebra
- Pre-Calculus and Calculus
- General Biology 115 & 116
- General Chemistry 161 & 162
- General Physics & Extended Physics
- General Psychology & More
- Genetics 380
- Expository Writing, Basic Comp & EAD
- Business Courses

Peer Mentoring
The mission of the THRIVE SSS Peer Mentor Program is to foster academic excellence among first-year college students. The goal of the peer mentors is to support their student mentees and increase their knowledge about resources that may help them succeed in college. As part of a support team, peer success mentors will:
- Provide a safe peer space to gain guidance
- Lead fun community-building activities
- Share tips for getting involved on campus
- Give referrals for THRIVE SSS services and campus resources
Workshops & Events
In order to provide well-rounded support for all our students from their freshmen year to their senior year, THRIVE SSS provides a number of educational workshops and seminars. The workshops and events can help students F.O.C.U.S. on achieving their goals. Topic areas include, but are not limited to:
- First-Year Excellence - Establishing a community of support and learning strategies to succeed in the college classroom.
- Opportunities for Engagement - Encouraging campus engagement and connecting students to high-impact learning experiences.
- Clarifying Next Steps - Post-graduate planning to help students who are ready to apply for graduate school or employment.
- Undergraduate Success - Preparation for successful graduation and transition into the social and financial responsibilities in life after Rutgers.
