Fall 2024 College Tour Week

During Fall 2024 College Tour Week, Upward Math-Science Scholars and Pre-College scholars had the opportunity to explore higher education and gain insights into college life. The week started with a visit to the NACAC College Fair, where students learned about over 40 colleges and universities.Scholars visited John Jay College and Rutgers University-New Brunswick, experiencing firsthand what these institutions offer. The fair and tours provided important information on financial aid, scholarships, the application process, residence life, student employment, study abroad opportunities, and much more

Scholars also had the chance to explore Rutgers University-New Brunswick's PhD student labs and Alumni Psychologist lab in New York City, where they learned about cutting-edge research, the field of psychology, and career paths in academia and research. A highlight was the opportunity to study how concussions affect the brain, offering a deeper understanding of the intersection of science and real-world applications.

The week concluded with a celebration of National First-Generation Day at Rutgers University-New Brunswick. Scholars interacted with first-generation undergraduate students, professional staff, and campus organizations, gaining insights into the resources and support systems available for first-generation college students.
