Fostering Consciousness During Times of Uncertainty, Supporting Our Historically Marginalized Students

Join us for an engaging and transformative roundtable discussion during Rutgers University's Black History Month 2025, led by Trinice Ìyá Fábùnmí McNally-Hair, co-author of the groundbreaking book Embracing Queer Student Identities: Understanding and Supporting Historically Marginalized Communities in Higher Education.
This roundtable will explore the critical role of faculty and staff in fostering consciousness and providing holistic support for Black, LGBTQ+, and other historically marginalized students, particularly during times of uncertainty. Drawing on themes from their book, the moderators will guide participants through a thoughtful conversation about the intersection of identity, resilience, and educational equity.
Through interactive dialogue, McNally-Hair will share actionable insights, historical perspectives, and strategies for creating inclusive, affirming, and equitable campus environments. This session is part of Rutgers University’s Black Pride programming. It underscores the importance of embracing intersectional identities and fostering a culture of care, solidarity, and transformative leadership within higher education.
